Google invests in Heex Technologies
Paris, France — June 3rd , 2021 — Today, Google for Startups — European Black Founders Fund begins and has selected Bruno Mendes Da Silva, co-founder and CEO of Heex Technologies, a Data Management and Techstars-backed startup. This program is the latest initiative from Google for Startups, which has several tech startup hubs worldwide.
Heex Technologies is working mainly with autonomous driving companies to help them filter the most relevant data with a software solution in order for them to work on their challenges around AI. This new fund is the European counterpart to Google’s efforts in the US which began in 2020. It’s part of its $175 million investment in furthering economic opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. The Google for Startups Black Founders Fund will provide cash to selected European startups, paired with up to $220,000 per startup in Google Ads and Cloud credits.
In addition to the cash awards and credits, successful founders will be partnered with a Google for Startups Partner Manager to connect them with the best of Google’s products, practices and people.
Commenting on the new fund, Rachael Palmer, Head of VC and Startup Partnerships EMEA at Google said: “We’ve seen incredible talent apply to the US Black Founders Fund and the European Black Founders Immersion mentoring programme held last year, which makes us so excited to get to know and work with even more high calibre, Black-led startups from across Europe.”

Heex Technologies believes that if big data already allowed great progress in machine learning, most developments are now facing a diminishing learning curve as most of the data being collected are becoming exponentially less relevant.In order to unlock the potential of autonomous systems and reach greater levels of autonomy in the ground-breaking fields of AI, robotics, and IoT, development teams don’t necessarily need more data; they need better data.
The goal of the program, along with the awarded funds and resources is to support Heex Technologies reach its next fundraising and business development milestones. The Google for Startups team will help connect the startup with relevant investors in its network and foster collaboration with its clients.
